Class 17: Basics of Hospital Pricing
In this module, we’ll introduce instrumental variables as an identification strategy. We’ll motivate the approach in the context of hospital pricing, where the research question is whether and to what extent hospitals receiving a financial penalty under the Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP) also raise their prices.
